Comfort Foods
About This Spot
Stepping into Comfort Foods at 22 Church Street, you immediately sense a cozy, unpretentious corner of Inverness where the hum of local life slows just a little. The space carries a warmly familiar atmosphere—part neighborhood café, part laid-back breakfast spot—where the pace invites you to linger over a meal or a cup of something comforting. Soft chatter mixes with the occasional clink of cutlery, creating a gentle, welcoming rhythm that feels both casual and caring.
The heart of Comfort Foods lies in its honest approach to food: generous portions served with a genuine smile. Whether you're settling in for a hearty Scottish breakfast or stopping by for a quick, warming cup of one of their specialty hot drinks, the experience is grounded in familiarity and care. The menu embraces a balance of traditional fare made approachable—think rich, homemade macaroni cheese or a plate piled high with fish and chips plenty large enough to share—alongside thoughtful options for plant-based diners and lighter appetites.
There’s a soothing satisfaction in knowing that here, your meal is not just food on a plate but a moment designed for ease and comfort, punctuated by friendly interactions that feel personal rather than transactional. Something about the friendly team’s attentiveness and the effortless coziness of the setting makes it easy to feel welcomed, whether you drop in for a quick bite or decide to make it your morning ritual.
Comfort Foods offers a quietly reliable refuge from the city’s bustle. It’s a place where home-style flavors blend with a warm, approachable vibe—perfect for those seeking a relaxed, genuine local experience without fuss or pretense.

Huge portions (fish and chips enough for 2 people). Wonderful kind staff. Fish and chips really good especially considering the reasonable price.

This place was so great—we came here everyday we were in Inverness. We just happened to find it after doing some research and WOW it did not disappoint! Absolutely recommend the smoked salmon and eggs—it was AMAZING. We also enjoyed some other goodies, which were equally as lovely. Great welcoming staff, cozy vibes and delicious food…everything we could’ve wanted!

Absolutely loved it! Great portion size, had the traditional Scottish breakfast with a raspberry ice-cream milkshake. Both were amazing, well cooked. The atmosphere was homely, could hear accent from locals and tourists alike. Good price, great size, well worth it!

Comfort Foods is just around the corner from the Waverley Guesthouse where I was staying in the Historic area of Inverness. I indulged myself with a delicious coffee creation with gingerbread men. I laughed inwardly, thinking I am a Man Eater ? The scones were warm with butter. Vhuntermassage LLC
